Hey y'all let me know your opinion on Tejano music...Seems like the only Tejano worth listening to is the oldies but goodies from back in the days. Here in Houston we got a Tejano station but it's on AM frequency and all I hear is KL:XJCOIUWEKL:SDLKJDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDdlkjjjjjjjjjLLLLLLLLLL from all the stupid static.

^^^ It's 980 AM. Go to netmio.com and check out their website and DJ's.
Yeah KQQK was the bomb but when it started moving around they lost tons of listeners. I have SUCH a passion for Tejano music too (you should see how many damn CD's I have) but nowadays no one is into it. And it sucks because the Valley, Dallas, and San Antonio are more on the Tejano music edge than Houston, we get it all late like always. I've never even heard a Kings1 song! |

Yeah I agree with you, they all cross over. Actually Jay Perez, Mazz, Ram Hererra, Roberto Pulido, David Lee still come out with new stuff but since for the longest there was no Tejano station in Houston no one ever heard their new stuff. |

OK, SERIOUSLY I WAS A HUGE TEJANO FAN...LIKE BACK IN THE DAY, IM TALKIN BOUT WAY BACK. TO ME IT DIES OUT A LONG TIME AGO, I CAN HARDLY STAND TO LISTEN TO IT. BUT I WILL SAY THAT ANYTHING FROM JAY PEREZ TO LA DIFERENZIA...I'M ALL HEARS...NOW THAT IS GOOD MUSIC...ESPECIALLY THEIR OLD STUFF. BUT OTHER WISE I COULD CARE LESS FOR ANY OTHER TEJANO MUSIC.

I don't think tejano actually died it going strong . Its just that their are new bands that are coming into the industry. Its just that not that many people support it anymore. I don't know but I'm not really into them oldies but goodies i'm into the new things. We just gotta keep supportint Tejano Music and it will grow more and more.

The reason tejano has died down is because artists are figuring out that if they change there style of music that they can actually make it big. There are really no big tejano labels around anymore, thats why artists like Jennifer Pena,Bobby Pulido,Intocable etc, have all moved to regional mexican music because a big label like univision will offer them 5 times the money that these little tejano joint labels do.You can tell that tejano is slowing dying since Q-Productions now focuses on coming out with new versions of old albums rather than signing new artists.
If you listen now days most tejano stations play mexican music.Kick 99.1 plays Los Tigeres Del Norte. |

I was listening to some old CDs, anyone remember that song "Las Hijas De Don Simon"? What about "Hey Baby Que Paso"?? Man those songs are oldddd I remember singing those songs with my cousins when we'd go to Mexico, we must've been about four years old. Todos mocosos, hanging out of the windows of a van, yelling out "Hey baby que paso!!!!" to all these people.
