syd barrett's lsd... james hetfield's alcohol... kurt cobain's everydrugevermade... all respectable artists... but how far could they have gone without drugs?? are drugs the real stars?? could they have done so much better without them??

perhaps that's not the case with james... it seems to me that he's gotten worse musically since getting sober... and syd made some great albums when on them... but those two are still alive... that's not so for kurt... and although he had consumed a considerable amount on the night of his death, drugs were not the cause...

so really, i think we should all thank drugs for ripping rock out of blues and creating such insane characters... some of which sound better when you're on drugs... NOT THAT I'D KNOW, because drugs are bad for you, kids... unless you're sick... or very, very talented...

what do YOU think...??

p.s. isn't pink floyd amazement?? oh golly... like liquid honey... O_O

Drugs help me get through the mornings and keep my children in line. And drugs were here even since the biblical days. Do you think Moses really split the water? Hell no, everyone was tripping out on acid.

I read in an article (which i'm not sure of it's reliability) that john lennon and paul mccartney were high when they wrote heaps of the beatles best songs.
It's kinda sad really...but if it works for them.... smoke2.gif

Bah, that is crap... not all good artists do drugs/alcohol... most are cleaner than you would imagine. Many people do drugs now-a-days, but it isn't bad/good musicians in particular.

Victoria: yes, Metallica went downhill (a lot!) lately... but all bands do. (Maybe not all... but a good percent.) Dimmu Borgir is a bit more metal, but I will use them as an example: They were one of my favorite bands for a long time because of the beautiful guitar/orchestral sounds/deep lyrics. (Like ...And Justice For All)

Personally though, I think there is little correlation between good music and drugs.
